Australia captain Pat Cummins says he will be "good to go" for the third Ashes Test against England after missing the first two with injury.
After missing the opening matches of the Ashes due to a back injury, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins appears poised for a return. The 32-year-old fast bowler has resumed bowling in nets and expressed confidence that he can rejoin the squad for the third Test in Adelaide.
Cummins sat out the first Test in Perth and the second Test in Brisbane after sustaining a lumbar bone stress injury during an earlier tour.
Selectors were cautious, naming an unchanged squad for the second Test — but with key bowlers like Josh Hazlewood struggling with injury, Cummins’s return could offer a major boost.
Cummins himself said that his recovery is on track, and net-bowling sessions have gone well — hinting that the Adelaide Test might mark his comeback to competitive action.
If selected, Cummins could replace one of the current pace options, strengthening Australia’s bowling attack for the rest of the series.
Fast bowler Cummins missed his side's victory in Perth and the ongoing day-night match in Brisbane as he recovered from a back injury.
The 32-year-old had an outside chance of playing in the second Test but is confident of a return in Adelaide on 16 December.
"I'll have one more bowl tomorrow in the nets and then we'll go to Adelaide and have a bowl there," Cummins told host broadcaster Fox Sports.
"Barring any hiccups, I'll be good to go. The body feels great."
